Shahnaz Belly is a popular folk singer in Bangladesh. Besides Lalon songs, she is also an expert in folk songs. Belly is from Kushtia, the elder daughter of Monsur Ali Biswas and Sujata Ali Surjo.

For the prospering of Lalon songs among the singers of the new generation, Belly has established a music academy titled Shahnaz Belly Music Academy in her own village West Abdalpur in Kushtia. On April 3, National Film Day, her music academy started its journey. Shahnaz Belly is the founder and president of the academy while Jamir Hossain is the vice president and Md Shahjahan Siraj is the general secretary of the academy.

Shahnaz Belly informed that now 50 trainers are receiving training in Lalon songs at her academy. Full-time Ustad (mentor) is yet not fixed for the academy.
She tells I believe for the flourishment of Lalon songs this academy will play a pivotal role. As I have devoted myself to Lalon songs, I want to explore these songs more. In my academy, the trainers who will learn music must get the scope to develop their rendering skills in Lalon songs. I want real singers should come out. I also want Lalon songs can be explored more. In this way, the name of my academy will flourish through practicing Lalon songs.
